So sorry to hear of Mary's passing. She was truly one of the kindest hearted people I have ever met. If anyone needed anything.....Mary was right there ready to help out with whatever had to be done! We will all miss her humor & positive outlook on life. My condolences to her family. God Bless!

Sorry to hear about Mary. She was kind to everyone and thought of everyone before herself. We would have loved to have been there for her funeral. We didn't find out till that morning and we didn't have enough time to make it there. We will miss her. Love Tom & Chris Ryan.

My youngest Ryan aunt, Mary Lu Ryan McGrath passed Monday night in Powers, MI at Pinecrest. In March 1977, Mary's husband died suddenly as a Merchant Maine in Korea back in 1977. My parents, Jan, and I were visiting my sister Kay and her family in Florida. We drove back through Detroit so to pick up Arvilla to go back to Esky with us. My father gave my aunt Mary financial advice a few weeks later. My father suddenly passed away the end of April in 1977 which devastated our family and my aunt Mary Lu and her brothers and sisters. I remember contacting Mary about my father's death in April 1977; Mary and Jean were over to the house in 5 minutes. When my grandmother Violet was living in her 90's in my parent's lower level, the water heater leaked and had a few inches of water on the floor. Mary came over and cleaned up the water damage. Mary and my Ryan aunts and uncles visited regularly with my grandmother at my parent's house. When my grandmother died a few months shy of 100 yrs old, the Ryan aunts and uncles attended my grandmother's funeral in Norway, MI too. Mary Lu was there for my grandmother Edna Ryan, the Ryan family and to help out others over the decades. My aunt Mary was a big volunteer at Bishop Noa nursing home as well. Mary visited my mother Arlene at Bishop Noa NH and wrote short notes in our family log. My mother loved the back rubs that Mary gave her. Mary Lu started out as a telephone operator off of S. 2nd Avenue. My aunt Mary Lu told me a few years ago that she was the first woman hired to work at Mead Paper mill. What a role model she has been for me and she will be missed.

With her husband Mike gone months at a time, it was great that aunt Mary Lu had her posse of Flossie and Janet to do things with. I took Mary and Janet to breakfast in downtown Esky a number of years ago which was a year or two after Flossie's death.
