Willard C. Williamson

Willard C. Williamson, age 93, of Escanaba, passed away Wednesday morning, April 17, 2019 at North Woods Place in Escanaba. He was born on April 29, 1925 in Gladstone, the son of Alex and Sophia (Mattson) Williamson. Willard was a 1943 graduate of Rapid River High School. He went on to be self employed as a logger in Limestone, MI for several years. Willard married the former Elaine G. Brisson on July 11, 1946 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Rapid River and she preceded him in death on July 16, 2008. Together, the couple shared 62 years of marriage and raised 2 children. In 1965, Willard relocated the family to Escanaba where he was employed with Harnischfeger Corporation until their closure in 1982. He went on to receive his certification in auto repair and worked out of his garage until his retirement. Willard was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Escanaba. He loved fishing and was a true Yooper who could fix anything. Willard was an avid reader, enjoyed working on cars, mechanics, and also woodworking. He was a devoted husband who deeply cared for his wife and children, especially 17 years before Elaine passed away. Willard will be missed by all who knew him.

Willard C. Williamson is survived by his daughter, Diane (Mark) Corbett of Gladstone; 2 grandchildren, Tracy Chehoski, and Becky Corbett; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Willard was preceded in death by his son, Larry on January 30, 1989; brother, George; and sisters, Irene, Georgeanna, Evelyn, and Nora.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Willard will follow at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Emmett Norden officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services. Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
