Tina Marie (Seger) Tosten, age 57, former Gladstone resident passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024 from injuries sustained in a side-by-side accident near Nahma, MI. Tina was born July 16, 1966 in Escanaba, MI and was the daughter of James and Beatrice (Vanderlinden) Seger. She was raised in Gladstone and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1984. Following her graduation, Tina's life took a courageous turn as she enlisted in the U.S. Army. Tina served for 27 years with the U.S. Army, serving in Korea, Germany and the United States. Driven by her passion for learning, Tina pursued higher education while in the reserves and successfully earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After her retirement from the US Army, she was employed by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) in Nashville, TN as an Administrative Assistant for 9 years.
Even amidst her military commitments, Tina remained actively engaged in her community, exemplifying her altruistic spirit as an ardent supporter of the Lions Club, Colbey’s Army, the local animal shelter, and the Breast Cancer Society. Tina will be fondly remembered by all who knew her for her unwavering dedication to service, both to her country and to those in need, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and community spirit. Tina enjoyed traveling and ran many half marathons.
Tina is survived by son Michael (Niamiah) VanLith of Circle Pines, MN; grandchildren Jedediah and Lenuel; sister Susan (Jay) Kelly of Rapid River; brothers Gordon Seger of Gladstone and Jeff (Carol) Seger of Marquette and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Timothy Seger.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Rapid River Pavilion from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Veteran’s services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Rapid River Pavilion.
