Therese C. Gersich, 93, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was born August 17, 1929 in Escanaba, daughter of the late Alfred and Exilda (Courier) Derusha.
She married Nicholas J. Gersich Sr., on Sept 23, 1950 and shortly after that they started a family. She remained in Escanaba with their children while her husband served in World War II and the Korean War. She later joined him, and the family traveled the world until he retired from the service in 1965 at which time, they returned to Escanaba to make it their home. She enjoyed playing cribbage with Nick Jr. and Laney, her casino trips with Rick, her weekly phone call with Emily, golf, gardening, Packers, crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Judi (Jim) King and Rebekka (Greg) Budz; daughters-in-law, Lana (Kelly) Gersich, Cindy (Bob) Gersich; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years; sons Mike and Nick Jr.; son-in-law, Greg, one grandchild; her parents; one brother; and seven sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 18, 2023 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Escanaba with Father Rick Courier officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
A very special thanks to Judi, Jim, Rick, Rena and family for all the love, care and compassion they gave throughout her journey.
