Sue A. Siirila of Rapid River, Michigan, age 76, passed away from an unexpected cardiac episode on Monday, March 11th, 2024, in the comfort of her home; less than two months following the passing of her husband, Eino.
Sue was born December 29, 1947, in Marquette, MI. She graduated from Rock High School where she was known as a “tomboy” for her athleticism. In her adult years she had a talent for storytelling and a great sense of humor. She worked a few jobs she truly loved, but her greatest passion was being a mom, daughter, sister, niece, auntie, cousin and wife. Family meant everything to her.
She married Eino J. Siirila, Jr. on December 24, 1994. They merged their family and together enjoyed the antique business. They loved road tripping to estate sales, buying, selling and trading antiquities from their shop, listening to the oldies and their beloved pets.
She is survived by children: Shannon Johnson, Lonnie Johnson, Katie (Nathan) Raspor; step-children: Darlene (Jerry) Clausen, Kenneth Siirila, Danielene (Marvin) Stokes, Michelle Siirila, Eino Siirila III, and Sarah (Rob) Froberg; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings: Sharon Louman, Bruce Laine (Sandy), and Holly Rajala; numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved members of the family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eino, parents, Lena and Taisto Laine; brother Dennis Laine, granddaughter Paige Raspor, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held for both Sue and Eino at the Gladstone Pavilion on Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Please join the family for food, refreshments, and a time of fellowship.
