Shirley M. Seymour

Shirley Mae (Lentz) Seymour, age 81, of Osier (North Delta) MI, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 at home surrounded by family after a 10-year battle with cancer.  She was born May 23, 1940 to Louis and Mary (Smetana) Lentz and raised on the family farm in Coleman, WI.  Shirley was the 2nd born of 8 girls. She graduated in 1958 from Coleman High School and moved to Milwaukee, WI, where met Marcel (Red) Seymour of Osier. They married in 1960 and celebrated 59 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2020. She ran The Hub restaurant with her mother-in-law, Maude Seymour.  She later worked with her husband in his logging business; at Elmer’s County Market in Escanaba, and Village Pub in Chatham.  She enjoyed cooking, especially having guests for dinner, knitting, reading, crossword puzzles, and going to the casino, which included an annual trip to Las Vegas, and in later years to Escanaba, Marquette and Baraga. Shirley will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Marci Taskey of Traunik, MI, Amy & Brett Richmond of Trenary, MI, Paul Seymour & Steven Delany of Green Bay, WI, and Paula Seymour of Rapid River, MI; grandchildren, Joshua and Alyssa Richmond, Brittney Richmond, and Christopher Delany; great-grandchildren, Hazel & Benjamin; sisters, Anna Engebretsen, Carol Stark, Mary Lou Lentz, Karlene (Russell) Martens, & Karen Korpi; in-laws, Jerry (Kathy) Seymour, Henry Seymour, Donna Seymour, William “Bill” Webber; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary Lentz; husband, Marcel “Red” Seymour; sisters, Joyce (Robert) Olsen, and Laverna Webber; son-in-law, Michael Taskey; in-laws, Kenneth Engebretsen, John (Jack) Stark, Jerry Korpi, Glen (Janice) Seymour, Donald Seymour, Dorothy Seymour, and Irvin Seymour; and nieces, Marnie Martens and Dorreen Gruszynski.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 19, 2021at the Trenary Community Building in Trenary. Memorial services celebrating the life of Shirley will take place at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, with graveside services to follow in the Trenary Cemetery. Shirley’s family would like to thank the staff of OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba and Dr. Randall in Gladstone, Dr. Ryan and Darcy Getzloff from Green Bay Oncology, Rachael and Eric from OSF Hospice, and Deacon Michael LeBeau from OSF Healthcare.
