Shirley Kenney Obituary

Shirley Ann Kenney, age 89, formerly of Iron Mountain, MI, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Spalding, MI. She was born on January 15, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Frank and Ann (Zeman) Kuchynka. The former Shirley Kuchynka married Lawrence Belsan in 1951 and he preceded her in death in 1956. She then married Leo Kenney on July 19, 1971 and he preceded her in death on April 17, 2004. Shirley was employed as a librarian in Cicero, IL and drove the bookmobile for the library. In 1990, Shirley moved to Iron Mountain, MI where she was employed at the library and also drove the Iron Mountain bookmobile. Shirley was of the Catholic Faith and was an active member of her library union for many years.

Shirley Ann Kenney is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Ted) LaMarche of Spalding, MI; 3 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Michael Belsan on November 2, 2007; and brother, Robert Kuchynka on July 24, 2013.

Private family services were held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba.
