Shirley R. Ettenhofer

Shirley R. Ettenhofer, age 89, of Escanaba, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 9, 2021 at her home. She was born on December 30, 1931 in St. Germain, WI, the daughter of Edward and Alice (Juve) Eldridge. Shirley attended and graduated from Gladstone High School and went on to attend Bay de Noc Community College in Escanaba. The former Shirley Eldridge married Edwin J. Ettenhofer on July 9, 1948 and he preceded her in death on September 18, 2011. Together, the couple shared 63 years of marriage. Shirley was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Escanaba where she was ordained a priest. The church was her greatest passion and was the love of her life.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Jena (Ron) Young of Escanaba, Valerie Ettenhofer of Escanaba, and Becky (Richard) DeMay of Rapid River; son, Timothy John (Donna) Ettenhofer of Daggett, MI; 8 grandchildren, Ron (Sandi) Young, Scott (Amy) Young, Jamie Flaherty, Eddie Flaherty, Katie LaCasse (Nick VanWagner), Mykayla Workman, Tim A. Ettenhofer, and Jesse Ettenhofer; 11 great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Austin, Aaron, Madelyn, Eastin, Zachary, Marleigh, Bradley, Taylor, Felicia, and Kyle; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her siblings, Florence, Natalie, Leonard, Bud, and Roy.

Private family funeral services will be held at a later date.
