Scott Nault Obituary

Scott “Moose” “Scooter” Darwin Nault, 50, of Wells, passed away peacefully April 23, 2021 at home, with family at his side. Scott was born in Escanaba, Mich. on December 28, 1970 to parents Darwin and Louise (Ward) Nault.  He grew up in Flat Rock, where he attended Flat Rock Elementary School. He participated in Cub Scouts, youth wrestling, Minor League and Little League baseball. Scott was baptized and confirmed at Christ the King Lutheran Church. A 1989 graduate of Gladstone High School, Scott played football and wrestled. He enjoyed woodworking and was proud of the big oak china cabinet he made for his mother. Scott was a hard worker and was always eager to help anyone out. Hunting, fishing, ice fishing, jet skiing, camping, picking wild blueberries, playing cards, and four-wheeling were some of his favorite activities. He had the best eye for spotting the elusive morel mushrooms in the spring.

Scott earned an associate of applied science from Bay de Noc Community College in 1992 and a bachelor of business administration degree from LSSU in 1997. He was employed as a night supervisor at UPS for six years. After that, he worked at a variety of jobs, including Fenix Telecom, Michels Corp., CR Meyers, and lastly Engineered Machined Products for six years, until his brain surgery in 2010 when he lost his short term memory. Scott never could accept that he could not return to work. Even though he could not recall a day since then, he remembered everything from earlier in his life, his friends, girlfriends, jobs, hunting experiences, parties with friends. He was just as smart, good at math, and loved making conversation. Scott was thankful to his parents for taking care of him all these years, and to his good lifetime friend, Jamie Roberts, who continued to talk to Scott on the phone to the end.

Survivors include his parents, Darwin and Louise Nault; his brother, Marc (Anne) Nault; uncles, Donald (Bev) Nault, Dale (Chris) Nault; aunt, Donna Milis; cousins, Donald Nault, Jr., Todd Nault, Michael Milis, Christine DeBruin, Stephen Nault, and Duane Nault; grandmother, Marian Scherer; and special great-aunt, Sophia Johnson.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Clyde and Lodema Ward, Donald and Doris Nault, and Alfred Scherer Sr.; and uncles, Dennis Milis, Alfred Scherer, Jr., and Charles Scherer.
