Russell B. Hominger, Sr.

On July 12, 2022, Russell B. Hominger, Sr., age 78, walked on to his ancestors awaiting him in the great hunting lodge in the sky.

Russ was the loving grandson of the late Bill and Hattie Hominger of Nahma, MI and the late Bertha and Max Neumann of Hyde, MI. Russ was born on May 27, 1944 in Detroit, MI to the late Russell W. and Rosella (Neumann) Hominger. Beloved husband of 58 years to Linda (Smith) Hominger. Loving father of Russell (Kim) Hominger Jr., Robert Hominger, Kristen (Bill) Hughes, and Kimberly (Lance) Corkwell. Russell loved and enjoyed his 10 grandchildren, Joshua (Kasey) Hominger and Kristina (Sonny) Sievers, Jessica and Shelby Hominger, Tiffany Clark and Raevyn Hughes, and Logan, Reese, Maverick and Lily Corkwell. Great-grandfather to Kyleigh, Zac, Carson, Baylee, Hera, Edison, Alaira and Sumeriahna. And great-great-grandfather to Jeremy Michael. Survived by a sister, Carolyn Calhoun of Sherwood, AR; several step-brothers, step-sisters; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Gina Hominger.

Graduate of Nahma High School Class of 1962, Veteran of the Vietnam War (Sgt USAF) served as jet mechanic in the Det1-49 Fighter Interceptor Sq. (ADC). Lifelong OTR driver and Union Steward for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 142 & 710. A Life Member of GWRRA, Lions Club, Jaycees, American Legion Post 509, Cabin Fever Cruisers, and IBT Local 142 & 710 Retiree. Thirty-year resident of NW Indiana, originally from and retired to the UP of Michigan.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (EST), Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba, MI. Military Honors will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. To view the Military Honors virtually, please visit the Anderson Funeral Home Facebook page at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to a Veteran’s organization of your choice.
