Ronald Provo

Ronald Provo, age 86, of Escanaba, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at home with his family by his side. He was born on January 28, 1935 in Escanaba, the son of John and Margaret (Johnson) Provo. Ron was raised and attended school in Escanaba. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957 and served his country in Germany until he was honorably discharged in 1959. Ron married the former Cathy Swed on August 5, 1961. Together, the couple shared 59 years of marriage and raised five children. Ron was employed at Bay de Noc Community College in Escanaba as a custodian for 25 years until his retirement. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors – especially deer hunting, and also collecting scrap metal and taking the various pieces apart.  

Ronald Provo is survived by his wife, Cathy Provo of Escanaba; daughters, Cathy (James) Hopkins of New London, IA, Elizabeth Schwandt of Iron Mountain, MI, and Laurie Hill of IA; sons, Ronald (Laura) Provo of Novi, MI, and John Provo of Grandbury, TX; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd; sisters, Grace and Delores; and many nieces and nephews.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Provo.

Graveside services with Military Honors by the Delta County Veterans Council will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 21, 2021 at Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells, MI. Burial will take place following the services.
