Robert Erickson Obituary

Robert Erickson, age 72, of Gladstone, passed away Saturday morning, November 7, 2020 at U.P. Health System – Marquette. He was born on April 11, 1948 in Gladstone, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Leadman) Erickson. Robert was raised and attended school in Rapid River and was a 1966 graduate of Rapid River High School. Following graduation, he began his lifelong career of working in the woods in the logging industry. Throughout the years, Robert ran various types of logging equipment. He married the former Barbara L. Johnson on April 24, 1982 in Escanaba. Together, the couple shared 38 years of marriage. Robert had a special bond with his son, Robby, and they loved spending time with each other. He also taught Sundays school at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Escanaba for 10 years.

Robert Erickson is survived by his wife, Barbara L. Erickson of Gladstone; son, Robby Erickson of Gladstone; brothers, Paul Erickson of Clarkston, MI, and Glen (Linda) Erickson of Rapid River; sisters, Beverly (Joe) Columb of Garth Bluff, and Bonnie (Ray) Collins of Escanaba; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Erickson.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Robert will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2020 at The Salvation Army in Escanaba with Major Alex Norton officiating. Due to the current mandate, masks and social distancing are requested.
