Richard C. Deno, 76, of Escanaba, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. He was born in Escanaba on January 29, 1946; and was a 1964 graduate of Escanaba High School. Richard enlisted in the US Navy in 1964 and served as a Combat Veteran in Vietnam until he was honorably discharged in 1968. He was employed as a security guard at the Escanaba Ore Docks and later worked as a caregiver. He greatly enjoyed spending time outdoors and living in the Upper Peninsula.
Richard is survived by his son, Jason Goodwill; and sisters, Ramona V. Larson of Mequon, WI, Marlene Noyes of Escanaba, Kathleen Grontkowski of St. Francis, WI, Judith Westphal (James) of West Bend, WI, Maryann Steede of Escanaba, and Janielle Price (Michael) of Hartford, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel (Kromer/Sopina) Deno and Clarence Deno; and brothers, Victor Sopina and Norman Sopina.
Graveside services and Military Honors conducted by the Gladstone American Legion Post 71 will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2022, in the Veteran’s Section of Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba. Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
