Raymond Dickerson Obituary

Raymond Leon “Ray Jay” Dickerson, age 67, of Bark River (formerly of Flint, MI), passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022 at his home. He was born on February 28, 1955 in Flint, MI, the son of William and Phyllis (Bill) Dickerson. Raymond was raised and attended school in Flint and was a 1974 graduate of Hamady High School. Following graduation, Raymond began his working career with General Motors in the V8 Engine Plant with the UAW Local 659. He retired after 30 years of hard labor and relocated to the Upper Peninsula, settling in Bark River. Raymond loved everything about the U.P. and was excited to call it his home. He was a former troll who became a proud “Honorary Yooper.” Raymond was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed collecting his die-cast model cars and could often be found listening to classic rock and beer barrel polka music. A true character who will be missed by many.

Raymond is survived by his children, Rachel Dickerson (Vincent Nardone) of Plainfield, IL, Cortney Dickerson (Shawn Edwards) of Swartz Creek, MI, and Justin (Melody) Gutierrez of Weaverville, NC; grandchildren, Zoey Gutierrez and Bennett Dickerson; brother, David Dickerson of Harbor Beach, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his siblings, William Dickerson, Danny Lee Dickerson, Peggy Sue Kayanek, and Ronnie Dean Dickerson.

Memorial services celebrating the life of Raymond will be held at a later date.
