Paul J. Marks, age 51, passed away Friday afternoon, July 16, 2021 at UP Health System - Marquette. He was born on June 11, 1970 in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of George William and Phyllis (Fitzgerald) Marks. Paul was a graduate of Anna-Jonesboro High School in Anna, IL. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army Reserves in Fort Lewis, WA, where he also did his basic training. Following basic training, he served as a cook. Paul graduated with honors as a sharpshooter. In 2018, Paul relocated to Escanaba and was employed by Elmer’s County Market in the deli department. He also worked at the Delona Restaurant. Paul married the former Renee Kirchenwitz on June 12, 2021 in Escanaba. His biggest passion was cooking. He also enjoyed watching movies, listening to classic rock music, going on walks, and loved the outdoors.
Paul J. Marks is survived by his wife, Renee Marks of Escanaba; mother, Phyllis Keller of Escanaba; sister, Peggy Sue Brown of Mason, MI; and aunt, Mary “Aunt C” (John) Tulppo of Escanaba.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Ford River Community Chapel. Memorial services celebrating the life of Paul will follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, with Pastor Jay Gilchrist officiating. A luncheon will be held at the conclusion of the services. Burial will take place in Saint John’s Cemetery in Dongola, IL.
