Patricia A. Smith, age 78, of Escanaba, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. She was born on October 2, 1942 in Flint, MI, the daughter of Loren and Vella (Griffith) Kitson. Patty graduated from Bentley High School in Burton, MI with the class of 1960. The former Patricia Kitson married Phillip Smith on February 23, 1963 in Flint, MI and he preceded her in death on December 3, 2010. Patty was a stay-at-home mother, raising her daughter Sheila. She later worked at J.C. Penney as a sales associate and later as a seamstress at Avery’s Men’s Wear in Flint until her retirement. In 2003, Patricia and Phillip moved to Arizona and later to Gladstone in 2010. She relocated to Escanaba in 2016. Patty was an avid reader, enjoyed watching Perry Mason and Hallmark movies on TV. She also enjoyed going to the casino and spending time with her family.
Patricia A. Smith is survived by her daughter, Sheila (David) Beggs of Escanaba; granddaughter, Emily Beggs (Fiancé Mike Frame) of Escanaba; numerous nieces and nephews, including Maria Slemp of Grand Blanc, MI, Star (Tom) Biggs of Lapeer, MI; and Sandi Prieur of Lower Michigan.
Private family services will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI next to her husband, Phillip.
