Norma Jane Carlson, age 94, of Escanaba, entered into eternal life Sunday evening, September 18, 2022 at North Woods Place in Escanaba. She was born on September 10, 1928 in Gladstone to Oliver and Philomene Estenson. Norma was raised and attended school in Gladstone where she was a graduate of Gladstone High School with the Class of 1946. In August of 1949, she exchanged wedding vows with Ivan C. Carlson, her husband of 56 years. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Norma is survived by her daughters, Ivy (Pat) Coan of Iron Mountain, MI, and Susan (Ronn) Seim of Plymouth, MN; grandchildren, Danielle, Lindsay, and Nathan Seim of the Minneapolis, MN area, and Andrew (Angela) Coan of Aurora, WI; great-granddaughter, Drew and Brooke Coan of Aurora, WI; great-grandson, Loden Heyerdahl; and great-granddaughters, Elise Heyerdahl and Violet Millard.
In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by her son, Mark A. Carlson in 1998; and her sister, Ruth.
“Death ends a life, but not a relationship. If my voice is inside you, then I will live on, even after I’m gone.”
Private services have been held. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the North Woods caregivers and U.P. Health and Hospice for the loving care given to Norma.
