Nancy K. Norberg, age 64, of Escanaba, passed away Monday evening, January 11, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. She was born on February 2, 1956 in Escanaba, the daughter of Francis Emmett and Ethel Gay (Grenfell) Viau. Nancy was raised and attended school in Escanaba and was a graduate of Escanaba High School. Following graduation, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy where worked as an air traffic controller until she was honorably discharged. Nancy later moved to Alexandria, LA and met her future husband, Karl E. Norberg (who also served in the U.S. Military). They were married on October 3, 1980 in Alexandria, LA. In 1983, the couple were stationed in Germany until being relocated to San Antonio, TX in 1984. Following Karl’s honorable discharge, they moved to their current residence in Escanaba in 1993. Nancy served as an organist in many churches throughout the community including Christ the King Lutheran Church and Our Savior Lutheran Church – both in Escanaba. She also volunteered her time working with Hope at the Inn. Nancy was a charter member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and also served on the church council. She had a special place in her heart for children and loved her grandchildren dearly.
Nancy K. Norberg is survived by her husband, Karl E. Norberg, Sr. of Escanaba; son, Shane, Sr. (Char) Norberg of Mauston, WI; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; siblings, Robert Viau of Burlington, WI, Steve Viau of Gladstone, Don Viau of Escanaba, and Debra Dayton of Westernport, MD.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her son Karl E. Norberg, Jr.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will not be any services held at this time. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
