Michael S. Johnson

Michael S. Johnson, age 58, of Gwinn, MI, formerly of Rock, MI, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Gwinn. He was born June 12, 1961 in Escanaba, MI, the son of Paul and Judith (Halmeoja) Johnson. Mike graduated from Mid Peninsula High School in 1979 and went on to attend Michigan Technological University. He worked as a diesel mechanic for over 40 years, where he was most recently employed by the Tilden Mine - a division of Cleveland-Cliffs, Inc. Mike was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Rock, and the United Steel Workers Union #7950. He loved everything the outdoors had to offer and enjoyed going to their family camp in Rock.

Michael S. Johnson is survived by his mother, Judith Johnson of Ripon, WI; brother, Jeff (Terri) Johnson of Ripon, WI; and four nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Johnson, on February 26, 2011.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Faith Lutheran Church in Rock. Funeral services celebrating the life of Michael S. Johnson will follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, with Rev. Rell Spickerman officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the funeral services in the Faith Lutheran Church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the spring of the year in the Rock Cemetery.
