Marylee Doris DeGrave, age 76, of Wilson, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022 at her home. She was born on May 12, 1945 in Escanaba, the daughter of William and Florence (Pavlat) Motto. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School and graduated from Holy Name Catholic High School in Escanaba. She became a Registered Nurse from Sinai Hospital in Detroit, MI and continued her education in Advanced Nursing Management from Michigan State University in Lansing, MI and Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI.
Marylee worked for 48 years in the medical profession and was well-known for caring for many people who needed her. She received several awards during her 20-year service to Menominee County as a volunteer. Marylee was active in her church and community, serving 9 years on the Parish Council and 9 years on the Marquette Diocesan Council. She was also a lector and Minister of Communion in her parish. Marylee served on various Director Boards in her community, among them being the Community Action Agency, Northpointe Behavioral Health, and Bay de Noc Hospice. Marylee was a life-long member of the American Nurse’s Association and member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Bark River.
Marylee is survived by her daughter, Lisa Marie DeGrave Hall of Hubbard, OR; two grandsons, Kyle and Daniel; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Sister Bonnie Motto, O.P. of Clinton Twp., MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Florence Motto.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Bark River, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Father Darryl Pepin officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the funeral services. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
