Mark “Markie” Charles Emery Jr., lovingly known as “Markie,” passed away on April 1, 2026, at the age of 36.
Markie was born on May 12, 1989, and grew up in Escanaba, MI, spending many of his younger summers in Baraga, MI. He graduated from Escanaba High School in 2008 and later attended Bay College, where he studied Computer Technology.
As a young boy, Markie ran wild with his brothers, sister, cousins, and friends, a lively and fearless crew. Whether it was WWE wrestling on trampolines, playing basketball, or diving into snowbanks, they filled their days with laughter, roughhousing, and the kind of playful chaos that comes with family. Through it all, they shared a deep bond and made the most of every moment together.
Markie will be remembered for his big laugh, his kindness, his goofiness, and his huge heart. He had a love for technology, enjoyed collecting coins, and found joy in music.
He is survived by his mother, Shannon Seymour; his father, Mark Emery Sr.; his sister, Alexis Emery; his brother, Patrick Emery; his nephew, Patrick Emery Jr.; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Sandra Lee Seymour Norris; his grandmother, Amelia Emery; his grandfather, James Emery; as well as several aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life to honor Markie will be held in Escanaba, Michigan, at 3721 Jingob St., on April 15th, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Markie’s memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he shared with everyone who knew him.
