Mae (Goodwill) Waupoose

Mae (Goodwill) Waupoose, age 90, of Orlando, WV (formerly of Gladstone), passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 in Morgantown, WV. She was born on May 20, 1931 in Wells, MI, the daughter of Jerry and Cora (Campbell) Goodwill. Throughout the years, Mae loved caring for her children and grandchildren as family meant the world to her. She enjoyed watching Ma and Pa Kettle movies, working on jigsaw puzzles, and gardening. Mae learned embroidering at the young age of 13 and also enjoyed making rugs, needle work, crocheting, and working on crafts. She could do anything that she put her mind to. Mae had a quick wit, great sense of humor, and was a great story teller. Mae was artistically gifted and wrote a song that was recorded on vinyl and also published her own book.

Mae had over 100 direct descendants. She is survived by her soulmate, William “Bill” Cobb; children, William “Bill” Waupoose, Eleanor “Ellie” Waupoose, Elaine Barker, Mary Kaminecki, Michelle Rindt, Jenny Lagunes, Lorraine “Lorrie” Wright, Joe Westlund, Melvina “Mel” Peters, Leona “Peeper” Seely, special step-daughter, Charlotte “Sis” Shawanokasic; 40 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and special friend who was always there to help, Don Hefner.

Mae was preceded in death by children, Allen Goodwill, Orrin Westlund, Sherry Westlund, and Loretta “Peanut” Waupoose; one step-son; siblings, Wally Goodwill, Martin “Mutt” Goodwill, Joseph Goodwill, Charles Goodwill Taivaloja, Mary Goodwill, John Goodwill, Frank Goodwill, and Sarah Goodwill; and three husbands, Melvin Wright, Orrin Westlund, and Mitchell “Big Jim” Waupoose.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Mae will follow at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen Cowen officiating. A luncheon will be served at 2:00 p.m. at the Brampton Township Hall in Kipling. Burial will take place in Fernwood Cemetery in the spring.
