Lynda K. Donovan

Lynda K. Donovan, age 78, of Kingsford, MI, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Marshfield Medical Center – Dickinson in Iron Mountain, MI. She was born on December 28, 1944 in Longview, WA, the daughter of Byron “Bob” and Evelyn (Wurth) Skellenger. Lynda was raised and attended school in Gladstone where she was a 1963 graduate of Gladstone High School. Following graduation, Lynda moved to Milwaukee, WI to attend school to be come a key punch operator. The former Lynda Skellenger married John Carlson in 1965 and he preceded her in death in 1993. In 1963, they relocated to the U.P. and settled in Escanaba. Lynda married Guy Donovan in 1979 and he also preceded her in death in 2017. She was a wonderful cook, baker, and cake decorator, loved crocheting and giving her afghans to her family. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy, was an avid Detroit Lions fan, and a huge animal lover. Lynda was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all.

Lynda is survived by her son, John H. Carlson, Jr. of Quinnesec, MI; daughter, Erin (Erik) Biggs of Dearborn, MI; grandchildren, Brandon, Owen, Sunshine, Carissa, and Melody; siblings, Marcia Carlson of St. Paul, MN, John (Ruthann) Skellenger of Gladstone, and Robert (Marsha) Skellenger of Gladstone; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, James Carlson.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Lynda will follow at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steven Cowen officiating.
