Loretta M. Pepin, age 87, of Gladstone, passed away Sunday morning, August 14, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. She was born on November 17, 1934 in Ford River, the daughter of Frederick and Bertha (Leisner) Krause. Loretta was raised in Escanaba and was a 1954 graduate of Escanaba High School. After graduation, she started working at Neisner’s Five and Dime Store where she later became a floor manager. During this time, she met the love of her life, Ronald G. Pepin. They married six months later on June 2, 1956 at Saint Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba. Together, the couple shared 64 years of marriage and raised 4 children: Michael, Lynn, Kevin, and Heather. Following retirement, Ronald and Loretta enjoyed wintering in New Port Richey, FL for over 20 years. Loretta loved spending time with her family especially holidays, football Sundays and thrifting trips. She was a long-time member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Escanaba.
Loretta M Pepin is survived by her children, Michael (Angela) Pepin of Pine Springs, MN, Lynn (James) Matta of Gladstone, Kevin (Veronica) Pepin of Crivitz, WI, and Heather Murtha of Gladstone; grandchildren, Tyler Frost, Michelle Lenoch, Mika Pepin, Takoda Pepin, Tehya Pepin, Tyler Pepin, Rhyan Murtha, Rhys Pepin, and Madyson Murtha; step-grandson, James Matta; several great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin Krause of Escanaba; brother-in-law, Roger (Bonnie) Pepin of Gladstone; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ronald G. Pepin; and brother, Eugene Krause.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Loretta will follow at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, with Rev. Paul Doletzky officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
