Lola L. Thurber, age 63, of Bark River, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at her home. She was born on July 9, 1959 in Gladstone, the daughter of Clarence and Betty (Congelton) Vizineau. Lola was raised in Escanaba where she also attended school. The former Lola Vizineau married James Thurber on October 23, 1991 in Escanaba and together shared 31 years of marriage. Lola loved her dogs, watching TV – especially The Weather Channel, and believed from the heart that Jehovah God is the true sovereign God of the Universe. Family meant the world to her and she loved them all so much! Lola was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
Lola is survived by brothers, Ernest (Heidi) Vizineau of Cornell, and Brian (Cherie) Vizineau of Ford River; sisters, Denise Valiquette of Escanaba, and Lynn Mitchell of Escanaba; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by her husband, James Thurber; her stillborn twin boys; brothers, Clarence and Julian Michael Vizineau; and sisters, Lois Boggs, Janice Micheau, and Mona Willis.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Lola will follow at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Anderson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Vizineau family for final expenses.
