Lois Mae Wyatt Olmstead, age 77, of Arnold, MI, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 21, 2021 at home surrounded by family. She was born on August 13, 1944 in Escanaba, the daughter of Charles and Almira (Roberts) Wyatt. Lois was raised in Arnold and graduated from Gwinn High School with the Class of 1962. She raised her family and attended Bay de Noc Community College where she received her Degree in Social Work as well as her LPN Degree. Lois later earned her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing at Northern Michigan University. For several years, she was employed by Marquette General Hospital until her retirement. Lois married Donald Olmstead in 1994 and he preceded her in death on December 29, 2007. Together, the couple shared 13 years of marriage. Lois loved living in Arnold and enjoyed hunting, gardening, canning, and baking bread.
Lois is survived by daughter, Mara (Rich) McInerney of Escanaba; sons, James Wyatt of Arnold, Charles (Lorrie) Phillips of Bark River, William (Marchelle) Phillips of Trail City, SD, and Joseph (Julie) Phillips of Escanaba; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Leroy (Janis) Wyatt of Arnold; sister, Rosemary Miron of Escanaba; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by her sister, Faye Holmes.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Wells Township Hall in Arnold. Funeral services celebrating the life of Lois will follow at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, with Bruce Tanner officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services at the Wells Township Hall. Burial will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Northland.
