Lois J. Curtice, age 90, of Wells, passed away Wednesday evening, September 9, 2020 at Christian Park Village in Escanaba. She was born on October 24, 1929 in Escanaba, the daughter of Charles and Viola (Smith) Hammar. Lois was raised and attended school in Escanaba, where she was a 1948 high school graduate. Following graduation, she moved to Milwaukee, WI to work at Montgomery Ward as a clerk. After a few years, she moved back to Escanaba and met her future husband, Robert Curtice. Robert and Lois were married on April 3, 1954 at First United Methodist Church in Escanaba and he preceded her in death on May 5, 2001. Together, the couple shared 47 years of marriage and raised 4 children, Robert, Kathleen, Tim, and Patrick. Lois was a loving homemaker and took great pride in taking care of her family. She greatly enjoyed spending time at their cottage in Stonington on Gra-al Shores. She also loved reading and knitting.
Lois J. Curtice is survived by her children, Robert Curtice of Wells, Tim Curtice of St. Petersburg, FL, and Patrick (Lori) Curtice of Gladstone; 9 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and best friend, Betsy Pada of Virginia.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Rickel.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2020 at Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells with Rev. Terry Frankenstein officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the services.
