Linda Louise Ricketts, age 66, of 618 Superior Avenue in Gladstone, passed away Saturday evening, April 20, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. She was born on July 9, 1952 in Durand, MI, the daughter of Edgar I. and Idamae (Bailey) Tyson, Sr. Linda grew up in Carrollton, MI and was a 1971 graduate of Carrollton High School. Following graduation, Linda worked as a cook for St. Luke’s Hospital in Saginaw, MI for many years before moving to Stonington in 1983. The former Linda L. Tyson married William D. Ricketts on July 11, 1987 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonington. Together, the couple shared nearly 32 years of marriage and raised 3 children, Carla, Stacey, and Richard. In 2007, Linda and William relocated and made their new home in Gladstone. Linda was employed at Northern Michigan Veneers in Gladstone until her retirement in 2014. She found joy in camping during the summer months and also enjoyed fishing, cooking, and sewing. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as they meant the world to her.
Linda L. Ricketts is survived by her husband, William Ricketts of Gladstone; 2 daughters, Carla (Thomas) Meyer of Gladstone, and Stacey (Tim) Nickell of Gladstone; 1 son, Richard Edward Tyson of Gladstone; 5 grandchildren, Matthew Meyer, Alicia Meyer, Dale Nickell, Nathaniel Charlson, and Aleena Nickell; 3 great-grandchildren, Aliay, Aria, and Idamay; sister, Sandra (Robert) Ochsenkehl of Escanaba; brother, Thomas (Jutta) Tyson of Germany; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Edgar Tyson, Jr., James Tyson, and Robert Tyson.
A gathering will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Kipling Town Hall where a meal will be served in Linda’s honor.
