Leslie John Heiden, Jr. Obituary

Leslie John Heiden, Jr., age 58, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, June 15, 2021 at U.P. Health System – Marquette with his loving family by his side. John was born on October 5, 1962 in Escanaba, the son of Leslie John and Shirley (Dubord) Heiden, Sr. He was raised and attended school in Escanaba where he was a 1981 graduate of Escanaba High School. John went on to attend Northern Michigan University and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He began his working career with Fastenal in Lima, OH and later transferred to their branch in Holland, MI. John then moved to Milwaukee, WI and worked for Menards. John moved back to the area and worked for Jeff’s Glass until his retirement to care for his parents. He was strong in his Catholic faith as a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba. John enjoyed spending time outdoors – especially fishing and hunting. He also loved spending time at the cottage in Stonington with family and friends, walking the beach, and going on the boat. He had a contagious smile that would light up the room and a heart of gold – he was the most loving and caring person anyone would want to meet. John loved to stop and chat with people, even if they didn’t know each other, and would always gain a new friend. He had such a joyful personality that made others love being around him. John will be so deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know him.

John Heiden, Jr. is survived by his mother, Shirley Heiden of Escanaba; brother, Jeff (Tina) Heiden of Escanaba; sister Beth Heiden (Sandy Lemerand) of Escanaba; nieces, Amanda (Jesse) Zambon of Escanaba; Allyson Heiden of Escanaba; great-nieces, Ruby, Violet, and Lilly; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie John Heiden, Sr. on February 14, 2019; paternal grandparents, Leslie John and Marie Heiden; maternal grandparents, Walter and Liza Dubord; uncles, John Koiuisto, Dick Drazba, and Vernon Lussky; aunt, Jane Heiden; and cousins, Julie Koiuisto, and Bobby Jo Drazba.
