Laurel Jensen Obituary

Laurel P. Jensen, age 85, of Wells, MI passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital in Green Bay, WI.  She was born on December 11, 1939, in Escanaba and was the daughter of Francis and Irma (Gosnell) Lewis.  Laurel graduated from Escanaba High School in 1957 and then moved to Milwaukee, WI and worked in the paper industry.  She moved back to Escanaba and was employed with Mead Paper Company as a billing clerk until her retirement.

The former Laurel Lewis married Christian Jensen on July 7, 1962, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Escanaba.  Together, the couple shared nearly 58 years of marriage and raised 4 children, Brian, Jill, Jennifer, and Paul.  Laurel was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed knitting, playing bingo, playing cards, going to the casino, and spending time with her family.

Laurel is survived by her children, Brian (Christina) Jensen of Melrose, IA, Jill (Aaron) Keener of Clarksville, TN, Jennifer Jensen of Hollywood, FL, and Paul (Lori) Jensen of Tecumseh, MI; 13 grandchildren ; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Russell Lewis of Gladstone and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Laurel was preceded in death by her brother Dan Lewis.

Private family services were held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba with Vicar Sarah Sleeter officiating.  The burial will be held in the spring of 2026 at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials please be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance.
