Kirt Mark Roberts

Kirt Mark Roberts, age 60, of Escanaba, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI. He was born on March 2, 1960 in Marquette, the son of Gordon Paul and Bertie “Dolly” (Coakley) Roberts. Kirt attended Munising High School where he graduated in 1978. He married the former Debbie Burley on New Year’s Eve in 1980. Together, the couple had one daughter, Sheila. Kirt began working at Cleveland – Cliffs as a millwright. In June of 1981, he moved to Baytown, TX and worked as a pipefitter for the local pipefitter’s union. After a couple of years, in 1983, Kirt relocated to Milwaukee, WI to attend truck driving school. A year later, he moved back to Munising and was worked for Graham’s Trucking. Kirt was employed by various trucking companies and hauled freight throughout the United States – over 2 million miles! He worked extremely hard and was proud to be an over the road truck driver. Everyone was Kirt’s friend and he never forgot a friendly face. Kirt loved motocross, enjoyed his toys – especially his jet ski, race car, and snowmobile. He also enjoyed going to NASCAR races. Kirt was one of a kind and truly a character!

Kirt Mark Roberts is survived by his daughter, Sheila Marie Roberts of Rapid River; granddaughter, Siera Rose Balko of Munising; mother, Bertie “Dolly” Roberts of Escanaba; siblings, Wade Roberts of Munising, Mary Roberts of Baytown, TX, and Kristi (James) Dahn of Gladstone; and several nieces and nephews.

Kirt was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Paul Roberts on May 15, 2018.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Kirt will follow at 1:00 p.m., Friday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Rick Courier officiating. Burial will take place in the McFarland Cemetery.
