Kenneth Culliton Obituary

Kenneth L. Culliton, age 69, of Rapid River, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 13, 1953 in Marquette, MI, the son of Thomas and Bernadine (Randall) Culliton. Ken was raised and attended school in Gladstone where he was a 1971 graduate of Gladstone High School. He went on to attend Bay College in Escanaba before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in November of 1972. Ken served his country for four years until he was honorably discharged in November of 1976. Ken spent his working career in the sales division of the insurance industry. He married the former Barb Carroll on March 11, 2002 and together shared 20 years of marriage. Ken was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He also loved woodworking and working with his hands. Throughout the years, he made many handcrafted pieces of furniture for his family members. Ken enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was very family oriented and always made sure they came first.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Culliton of Rapid River; son, Tyler Culliton of Rapid River; brothers, Dean (Wanda) Culliton of Manistique and John (Julie) Branam of Manistique; sister, Connie (Darryl) Demeuse of Rapid River; mother and father-in-law, Richard and Janet Carroll of Stonington; sister-in-law, Madelyn (Jeff) Gauthier of Garden; and several nieces and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents; and also his parents, Thomas and Bernadine.
