Kathy Ann Irene Vogel

Kathy Ann Irene Vogel, age 71, of 5043 18th Road in Escanaba, MI, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family from complications with COVID-19. She was born on October 2, 1949 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba, the daughter of Fred and Marcella (Leisner) Lancour. Kathy was raised in Ford River and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1967. On April 23, 1971 she married Joseph H. Vogel in Escanaba. The couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Kathy was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, her dogs – Rigby and Willow, traveling, reading, playing boardgames in her earlier years, horseback riding, gardening, and crocheting.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Joseph Vogel of Escanaba; mother, Marcella Filteau of Escanaba; brother, John (Jan) Lancour of Escanaba; two daughters, Jennifer (Kevin) Austin of Atlanta, GA, and Kristin Vogel of Atlanta, GA; three sons, Jim Vogel of Atlanta, GA, Kevin Vogel of Escanaba, and Justin Vogel of Escanaba; five grandchildren, Tyler Lindquist, Travis Lindquist, Adria Vogel, Olivia Vogel, and Skylar Vogel; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Lancour.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Kathy will follow at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, with Rev. Paul Doletzky officiating. A luncheon will be held at the conclusion of the services in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in West Ford River Cemetery.
