Katherine J. Blasier

Katherine Jane Blasier, 96, lifelong resident of Dearborn, MI, passed away peacefully November 20, 2022, in Gladstone, MI. Born in Detroit on September 14, 1926 to Albert Rausch and Margaret (Brauns) Rausch, Katherine was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Robert O. Blasier; son, Ralph Budd Blasier; and siblings, Margareta Rausch, Mary Rausch, Alberta Weckler (David), Fred Rausch (Sally), and Harold Rausch.

Katherine was a homemaker, a school secretary, and a bookkeeper, but first and foremost she was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was an excellent cook, an accomplished and avid golfer - playing well into her 80's, a world traveler, an amazing tomato gardener, and lover of daily newspapers. She had a sharp wit and an acerbic tongue at times, she was "sassy and spicy", but she had a generous heart for all of those she loved as well as those in need and was especially grateful to veterans and those who gave their lives in service to this country in any way.

Katherine is survived by her son, Robert Dale Blasier (Cecelia); daughter-in-law, Mary Gail Blasier (Ralph); grandchildren, Brittany Blasier Tragos (Jason), Christopher Blasier, Kevin Gauss, and Nate Gauss (Mackenzie); nieces and nephews, James Gurd, Terry Hertzler (Jerry), Nancy Piwowar (Dan), Paul Rausch (Sue), Susan Carole, Marge Rausch, Sharon Sosa, James Rausch, and Jane Serafin (Chris); great-nieces and nephews, Kelsi Griffin (Brandon), Kristen Hertzler Kennard (Phillip), Kara Gelvin (Derek), Kevin Piwowar (Jordan), and Ian Sosa (Nicole).

Private family funeral services will be held. Donations in Katherine's memory can be made to the Delta Animal Shelter, 6975 County Road, 426 M.5 Road, Escanaba, MI 49829, or the charity of your choice.
