Judith L. Puro

Judith L. Puro, age 76, of Gladstone, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at North Woods Place in Escanaba. Judith was born December 11, 1946, in Paw Paw, MI, the daughter of Jonas and Bertha Erickson, and graduated from Kalamazoo High School with the Class of 1965. Following graduation, Judith attended Michigan Tech University in Houghton and graduated with a Medical Technology Degree in 1969. She married Duane Puro on May 10, 1969 in Kalamazoo, MI and the couple moved to Germany with Duane serving in the U.S. Army. After the military service, the couple moved back to Houghton, MI so Duane could finish his education. Judith most recently worked for OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba as a Lab Technician and later in Medical Records until her retirement in 2011. Judith was a long-time member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She loved people and was always ready to help others. Judith enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, and watching Hallmark Movies on TV.

Judith is survived by her husband, Duane Puro; sons, Matthew (Bonnie) Puro of Bemidji, MN, and Eric (Tina) Puro of Kiel, WI; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Karen Erickson; and daughter, Christine Puro.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2401 N Lincoln Rd., Escanaba, MI. Funeral services celebrating the life of Judith will follow at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, with Rev. Ben Ramthun officiating. A meal will be served at the conclusion of the services in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
