Judith (Judy) M. Johnson, age 82, of Rock, MI, passed away Monday morning, June 28, 2021, at Maplecrest Manor Assisted Living in Ripon, WI. She was born on January 19, 1939, in Rock, MI, the daughter of Maini and Signe (Ericksen) Halmeoja. Judy was raised and attended school in Rock, where she was a graduate of Rock High School. The former Judith Halmeoja married Paul E. Johnson on October 18, 1958, at Faith Lutheran Church in Rock, and he preceded her in death on February 26, 2011. The couple owned and operated Johnson’s Gas Station in Rock for many years while she also took care of the bookkeeping for the business. Later in her career, Judy worked for the Rock Credit Union. Judy enjoyed cooking, quilting and needlework, and going to the family camp in Rock. She also loved spending time with her family, as they meant the world to her.
Judy is survived by her son, Jeff (Terri) Johnson of Ripon, WI; four grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, Courtney (DJ) Wurster, Kaylee Johnson, and Travis Johnson; two great grandchildren, Finnegan Wurster and Baylor Wurster; sister, Karen (Trudy) Halmeoja of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Judy was preceded in death by her son, Michael; sisters, Helen Prokop, Betty Bartlett, and Kathleen Lehto; and her brother, James Halmeoja.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Judy will follow at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, with Vicar Melissa Salminen. Burial will take place following the funeral services in the Rock Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the graveside services at Faith Lutheran Church in Rock.
