Joyce Elaine Picard, age 93, of Escanaba, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at her home in Escanaba, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 14, 1930 in Nahma, MI and was the daughter of Leo and Martha (Rivers) Nedeau. Joyce attended both, the Garden and Cooks schools. She married John “Jack” Picard on November 6, 1965, together the couple enjoyed 55 years of marriage and were very proud of their extended family, which included 125 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Jack preceded her in death on January 30, 2021. Joyce was employed as a nurse’s aid at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba and loved caring for older people. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making dinners for her family. Joyce loved going to the casino with her husband Jack and took many bus tours visiting many different casinos. Joyce was a very strong woman who loved her family and grandchildren with all her heart and soul. She was an amazing lady who loved fashion and lots of flash! She was a devoted member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and served as an usher at St. Thomas.
Joyce is survived by her sons; Terry (Cindy) Papineau of Escanaba, Brent (Donna) Papineau of Escanaba and stepchildren; Don (Amy) Picard of Escanaba and Debbie (Jeff) Couper of Iron Mountain, MI; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren; sister Joan Dufour of Escanaba; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her children Timothy and Kim Papineau, Belinda Eagle-Finlan and Lori Picard; brothers Ivan, Leonard, and Edward Nedeau; sisters Shirley Gouin and Marilyn Flath.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Joyce E. Picard will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will be held at the Ford River Pub following the funeral services. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
