Jon K. Muffler, age 69, of Gooseneck Lake (formerly of Rapid River), passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, WI. He was born on December 2, 1951 in Indianapolis, IN, the son of James and Patricia (Perkins) Muffler. Jon was raised in Indianapolis until his family relocated to the Upper Peninsula in 1966, settling in Stonington. He was a 1970 graduate of Rapid River High School. Jon married the former Deborah Young on August 14, 1970 in Escanaba. Together, the couple just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. After graduation, Jon started his career as an auto body tech, manager and owner until retirement. Jon used his artistic talents to build many beautiful custom hot rods, he was great at what he did. He was a longtime member of the Krusin Klassics Car Club. Jon was an avid walleye fisherman; for many years, Little Bay De Noc was his second home. Jon loved listening to music, playing his guitar, and riding his side by side. He was strong in his Lutheran faith and instilled the 10 Commandments in his daughter’s while they were growing up. Jon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone.
Jon K. Muffler is survived by his wife, Debbie Muffler formerly of Rapid River; daughters, Joni (Brian) Shafranski of Gladstone, Jessica (Randy) Snowden of Escanaba, and Jennifer Lauscher of Peshtigo, WI; grandchildren, Brittany Rajala, Cody Rajala, Zachary Rajala, Johanna Snowden, Jeran Snowden, Jakob Snowden, Thomas Rama, Alexis Lauscher, Justine (Matt) Shafranski, and Travis (Katie) Shafranski; great-grandsons, Jacob Shafranski, and Ezra Borenz; siblings, James Muffler of TX, Fran Denny of Escanaba, Diane (Louie) Wicklund of Stonington, Patrick Muffler of Rapid River, and Kimberly (Ralph) LaFave of Gladstone; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jon was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Justin Snowden.
Visitation will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Jon will follow at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Cowen officiating. A reception will be held at the conclusion of the services at the Escanaba Elks Lodge. Burial will take place in the Rapid River Cemetery.
