John Miller Obituary

John W. Miller, age 61, of Escanaba passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at U.P. Health Systems- Marquette. He was born August 20, 1962, in Escanaba, Michigan, and was the son of George and Lois (Way) Miller. John graduated from Escanaba High School in 1980. He married the former Patricia Willette on September 8, 1984, in Escanaba, and together, they raised two sons, Matthew and Joshua. John served in the U.S. Air Force from April 26, 1984, until he was honorably discharged on April 25, 1988, at the rank of sergeant. He then worked sales jobs in northern California before moving back to Escanaba with his family; his final job before retiring was with Central U.P. Industrial Supply Co. John was a devoted hockey dad who watched his sons skate through the years. He was a competitive guy who played tournament pool and won many matches; he also played in, and won, many poker tournaments. John enjoyed golfing locally and rooting for the Detroit Redwings and Lions. Back in 1998, on the night of the Seinfeld finale, John won the TV6 Jerry Seinfeld look-alike contest. He enjoyed life, but mostly, he was proud of his sons’ accomplishments and was so happy to be grandpa to five.

John is survived by his sons Matthew (Amber) Miller of Escanaba and Joshua (Paula) Miller of Madison; his grandchildren Aria, Easton, Elliot, Emma, and Leo Miller; brothers Richard (Gwen) Miller of Milwaukee, and Steve (Suzanne) Miller of Escanaba; sisters Terry (John) Frankenstein of Escanaba, and Jenny Miller of Appleton. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents.
