John Byron McDonough

November 26, 1958 ~ January 24, 2022 (age 63)

John Byron McDonough, age 63, of Escanaba, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022 at his home. He was born on November 26, 1958 in Escanaba, the son of Byron and Marilyn Jean (Good) Lindstrom. John was raised and attended school in Escanaba and was a 1977 graduate of Escanaba High School. He went on to further his education at Michigan State University where he received his degree in 1981. John married the former Mary Kennedy on June 25, 1987 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Flint, MI and together raised three girls, Meghan, Samantha, and Shannon. John was employed in the cardiac medical supply business for over 30 years before relocating to the Escanaba. He was a huge Michigan State Spartan fan and loved cheering on his college teams. John took great pride in being a true Yooper and looked forward (with great anticipation) to the annual “Bird Camp” weekend. He loved watching the sunrises at Ludington Park in Escanaba and enjoyed sharing his photos that he captured with family and friends. John was strong in his faith as a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba.

John is survived by his daughters, Meghan (Aaron) Rozeboom of Springfield, MO, Samantha (Ben) Boudro of Lake Orion, MI, and Shannon (Jon) Adams of Lake Orion, MI; grandchildren, Isla and Evie Rozeboom, Hudson, Crew, Briggs, and Bodie Boudro; siblings, Kristine (Rick) Anderson of Escanaba, MI, Nancy (Mark) Miller of Bradenton, FL, and Molly (Dave) Slayton of Kenosha, WI; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jean McDonough and Byron Lindstrom; his grandson, Nash Adams who he referred to as a “Little Warrior;” and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
