John Joseph Clairmont

John Joseph Clairmont, age 79, of Northland, MI, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at U.P Health System – Marquette. He was born on August 16, 1939 in Iron Mountain, MI, the son of Louis and Anna (Murray) Clairmont. John grew up in Powers and attended school in the Powers/Nadeau area. During the 1960s, he drove truck for Casperson Logging. He went on to attend welding school in Marquette and was employed by K & K Manufacturing in Rock for several years. John worked various jobs until recently working for Bill’s Mill in Northland doing repairs. John loved the outdoors – especially hunting. One could often see him riding his moped on County Road 426 riding to and from Escanaba. John enjoyed birdwatching and had a bird sanctuary in his backyard. He was a huge animal lover, a friend to many, and always lived life to its fullest.

John Joseph Clairmont is survived by children, Michael (Barbie) Clairmont of Flat Rock, Debbie Clairmont of Gwinn, and Phil (Sue) Clairmont of Pulaski, WI; 5 grandchildren, Nicole, Cassandra, April, John, and Zoe; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Anna Mae Schuette; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by 1 infant sister.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of John will follow at 3:00 p.m., Friday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Fran DeGroot officiating. Burial will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Northland.
