Jimmie Chase Obituary

Jimmie Lee Chase, 88, of Escanaba, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home in Harbor Tower on May 11, 2026, in Escanaba, Michigan.

He was born on November 14, 1937, in Lansing, Michigan, and grew up in the Escanaba area. Jimmie dedicated many years of service to the City of Escanaba as a sanitation worker; he was the one who rode on the back of the truck.

Jimmie loved his community and was a familiar face around town. He also had a special love for dogs and enjoyed their companionship. He could often be seen taking rides on his scooter, sometimes with his dog Junior by his side, with the wind in his trademark beard and ponytail. On hot summer days, he could often be found enjoying a swim in Lake Michigan. It could truly be said that he never met a stranger. Jimmie loved to visit with friends, neighbors, and anyone willing to stop and chat.

He was incredibly resourceful and always happy to lend a hand. When he was able, he even helped by snow blowing his neighbors sidewalks.

Jimmie is survived by his sisters, Judy Gaudette, Connie (Leon) Joncas, Carol Aker, and Patti Chase, and Sally Geroux; his brother, Cecil Chase; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Leila (Derpy) Chase; his sister, Penny Linden; and his beloved canine companions, Buddy and Junior.

A graveside service for Jimmie will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in the chapel at Gardens of Rest Memorial Park in Wells, Michigan.
