Jeffrey Everette Wight, age 62, of Escanaba passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, at his home in Escanaba. He was born July 2, 1962 in Chicago, IL and was the son of Richard and Mardell (Ring) Wight. Jeff graduated from Escanaba High School in 1981 and was employed as the yard supervisor for Coplan Iron and Metal in Escanaba for over 30 years. He was a very hard worker who would do anything for anybody. Jeff enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s events and spending time with family. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed watching movies, camping and the outdoors. Jeff always had a “Dad Joke” on deck and had a great laugh. Jeff married Mary McGuigan on June 20, 2020, exactly six years from when they started dating.
Jeff is survived by his wife Mary; children Jessica Brock of Gladstone, Nicole (Nicholas) Rossell of Escanaba, Rachel Leckson of Manistique, Jeremiah Wight of Ironton, OH, Evan McKnight of Escanaba, Max (Usa) McKnight serving with the U.S. Airforce in California, and Jacob Wight serving with the U.S. Army in Missouri; grandchildren Anna Renelle, Madalynn Leckson, Isaac Leckson, Milo Brock, Anden Wight, Lilly Ison, Edward Leckson, August Wight, Ava McKnight, Amelia Rossell and Wilder Brock; and soon to be great grandchild Luke Daniel Everette Johnson.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday, August 5, 2024 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Jeff Wight will be held at 4:00 p.m., Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Poe officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the family to help with funeral expenses.
