Janet Mildred Warwick

Janet Mildred Warwick, age 82, of Rock, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023 at UP Health System – Marquette. She was born on December 21, 1940 in Manistique, the daughter of Toivo and Mary (Luoma) Kanerva. Janet was raised Rock where she also attended high school. She relocated to Belleville, MI and raised her three children, Dale, Kathleen, and Luann. In 1977, Janet purchased the Knotty Pine in Arnold, MI and ran the business until 1979 when she moved to Rock. She went on to further her education and attended Northern Michigan University. Janet worked at the Chip-In Island Resort and Casino for 10 years and also at the Ojibwa Casino in Marquette for 10 years.

Janet is survived by her children, Dale Warwick of Rock, Kathleen Gustafson of Northland, and Luann Lohfink of Northland; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Carol (Ron) Elie of Soo Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by brothers, Clayton and Walter Kanerva.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Janet will follow at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Lepisto officiating. Burial will take place in the Rock Cemetery.
