Janet Gasman Obituary

Janet A. Gasman, age 87, formerly of Escanaba, MI, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2021 at Country Villa Assisted Living in Freedom, WI. Janet was born on November 20, 1933 in Escanaba, MI, the daughter of the late Gunnar and Anna Nelson. She met the love of her life, Bill Gasman (The Tootsie Roll Man) and they were married at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Escanaba. They were proud parents of two sons, Kevin and Mike. Janet’s passions were a love of photography and traveling around the world. She and her husband, Bill, were blessed with the opportunity to visit nearly 200 countries and 6 continents. The pictures she took of their adventures were absolutely amazing.

Janet is survived by her son, Mike (Kris) Gasman; grandson, Tony (Taylor) Gasman; granddaughter, Taylor Gasman; great-granddaughter, Alora Jane, and another great-grandchild due in February 2022; sister, Carol Garbisch; cousin, Richard Nelson, who she considered a brother; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and close friends.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Gasman; son, Kevin Gasman; brother, Carlton “Cotton” Nelson; and sister, Lorraine Magnuson.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held for Janet at Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells, MI. Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
