James J. Kossow, 86, of Gladstone peacefully passed away on August 28, 2024. Jim was larger than life and the very epitome of a “strong” man. Defined not only by a career in logging, excavating, hauling and competitive arm wrestling, but by strength of character and heart.
Whether apple picking with the grandkids perched atop his broad shoulders, feeding deer, tenderly hand-feeding chipmunks or simply gardening with his loving partner of 42 years, Karin. Jim appreciated the joy and beauty found in simple every day moments.
Jim was deeply loved and respected by many and our days will surely be less bright in his absence.
Jim is preceded in death by his siblings; Millie, Theresa, Martha, Fred, Bill, Pat, Tim, and Larry.
He is survived by siblings; Betty, Esther, Julie, Matt, Mike, and Dick. Also surviving family (not by blood, but by heart), best friend and life partner Karin Thielman, “Daughter” Donna, “Grandchildren” Jordan and Courtney and “Great Grandson” Callan.
You are forever in our hearts. We love you, Pops. Per Jim’s wishes there will be no services.
