Harold Levesque Obituary

After a battle well fought, Harold Joseph Levesque left this world surrounded by the love of his family on the afternoon of June 2, 2024.

Born to Arthur and Pearl (Lantagne) Levesque on April 17, 1942, in Escanaba, Michigan, Harold grew up in the Riverland area. After graduating high school, he proudly served in the Army from 1964 to 1966 during the Vietnam War. While completing his Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, he met his best friend Ronald (Ronnie) Melton. Harold and Ronnie quickly formed an inseparable bond that led to endless shenanigans that still make the family laugh to this day.

On a long weekend off from training, Ronnie brought Harold home to his family in Urbana, Missouri. This is where he met the woman who took his breath away and became the love of his life—Ronnie’s younger sister, Mary Ann.

Harold knew from that very moment that Mary Ann was going to be his future wife; she had stolen his heart. He explicitly admitted this when he wrote to his parents afterward. His dreams slowly came true over the next couple of years as he and Mary Ann wrote love letters back and forth during his time in the service. They decided to spend their lives together and married on June 4th, 1966.

Once his time in the Army was completed, Harold and Mary Ann started their lives in Escanaba. He got a job at Harnischfeger as a machinist, bought a home in Riverland, and had four beautiful children: Melissa (married to Jonas Lundberg), Michelle (married to Mark Wergin), Troy, and Todd. Facing unemployment with the plant’s closure in 1982, he used his entrepreneurial spirit to start Orbit Satellite the following year. Through their business, Harold and Mary Ann installed and serviced satellite television systems across the Upper Peninsula.

After their four kids grew up, the family grew to include seven grandchildren: Joshua (Angie) Levesque, Brady (Andie) Levesque, Curtis Levesque, Riley Levesque, Jonas (Emily) Lundberg, Emma Lundberg, and Lucas Wergin. They are followed by six great-grandchildren: John Barret, Madeline, Miriam, Bronwyn, Wyatt, and Walker Levesque.

Harold was full of wanderlust and got to go on many exciting trips, his favorites were his adventures to Alaska and Italy. He particularly enjoyed cruising and loved to watch and listen to the ocean. While at home, he loved to golf with his brother Mike and to test his luck at the casino.

Harold is survived by his devoted and beloved wife Mary Ann; younger brother Mike and his wife Judy; his younger brother Marvin and his wife Nancy; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces, and cousins; and Mary Ann’s siblings: Naomi, Jim (wife Kim), and Ruby (husband Larry). Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pearl Levesque; his brother, Arnold Levesque; his sister-in-law, Gloria Levesque; his brother-in-law and best friend, Ronald B. Melton; and his niece, Renee.

While we all take comfort in knowing that Harold is now in Heaven, with much grief and sorrow, we say goodbye to our beloved Husband, Father, Papa, and Friend. His mischievous and playful character was one in a million and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. We love you, Harold, and will forever hold you in our hearts. In respect of Harold’s wishes, there will be no formal services.
