Gloria G. Harnish

Gloria G. Harnish, age 80, of Escanaba, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Cedar Hill Assisted Living in Bark River, MI. She was born April 4, 1942 in Romeo, MI, the daughter of Walter J. and Ruth Marion (Thorn) Bailey. Gloria graduated from George A. Dondero High School in Royal Oak, MI and went on to attend and graduate from Dorsey Business College in Madison Heights, MI. She worked as a secretary for Dr. Morrow Chiropractic office in Madison Heights, MI and later at State Farm Insurance Company. The former Gloria G. Bailey married Gary A. Harnish on December 22, 1960 in Royal Oak, MI and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2014. Together, the couple shared 53 years of marriage. Gloria was a devoted Baptist and enjoyed reading, working on crossword puzzles, and crocheting. She worked with the deaf, taught sign language at her church, and sang in the church choir.

Gloria G. Harnish is survived by, daughter-in-law, Jennifer Harnish of Shelby Township, MI; grandson, Keate Harnish of Shelby Township, MI; beloved dog Bandit and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Scott Harnish; and sister, Sherry Lynn Weaver.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Gloria will follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a tree to be planted in remembrance of Gloria.
