Gene Hebert Obituary

Gene F. Hebert, age 81, of Escanaba, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 12, 2021 at U.P. Health System – Marquette. He was born on June 10, 1940 in Escanaba, the son of A. Eugene and Hildur (Nielsen) Hebert. Gene was raised in Escanaba and was a 1958 graduate of Escanaba High School. Following graduation, he went on to attend college. Gene returned to Escanaba and joined the family business, Photo Offset Printing, and was employed there until his retirement. Gene married the former Betty Robinson on October 25, 1969 at First United Methodist Church in Escanaba. Together, the couple shared 51years of marriage. He was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Escanaba and played the trumpet in the Escanaba City Band for many years. Gene greatly enjoyed going to camp in Twin Lakes near Munising and liked to catch up reading the newspaper.

Gene is survived by his wife, Betty Hebert of Escanaba; brother, Joe (Mary) Hebert of Escanaba; sister-in-law, Dayna (Dale) Wisniewski of Hartford, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Gene will follow at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, with Rev. Ryan Edwardson officiating. Burial will take at the conclusion of the services in Lakeview Cemetery. A luncheon will be held after the graveside services.
