Gary Allen Bergeon, age 70, of Escanaba, passed away Friday, July 28, 2023 at his home. He was born on November 22, 1952 on the Island of Guam, the son of Daniel and Carol (Willette) Bergeon. Gary grew up in Escanaba and was a 1969 graduate of Escanaba High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country from December 30, 1971 until he was honorably discharged on November 25, 1972. Gary married the former Cindy Casey on July 2, 1977 at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone and together they raised two children. Gary worked at Harnischfeger in Escanaba until it closed and later was employed by Northern Motors Rebuilders until his retirement. Gary also worked for Viau’s Market for many years. Gary enjoyed life and loved a good party. He looked forward to spending time outdoors, shooting archery, fishing, hunting, playing cribbage, and collecting jackknives. Gary shot darts for the Northtown Crown Da’ Bar and loved all bar sports including dartball, pool, beanbags, and horseshoes. He also enjoyed going to rummages sales and thrifting with his best friend B-B.
Gary is survived by his children, Angie (Mark) Forvilly of Escanaba, and Missy Bergeon of Escanaba; grandchildren, Case Reed and Brandice; girlfriend, Judy Weissert of Escanaba; Judy’s son, Guy Weissert; sisters, Carol Baker of Escanaba, Janice (Dan) Tryan of Ford River, Kathy (Mark) Stanchina of Florida, Barbie (Steve) DuBord of Gladstone, and Shelly (Leonard) McKeever of Ford River; brothers, Danny Bergeon of Germany, and Pat Bergeon of Escanaba; best friend, Bob “B-B” Mayer and Bob’s son, Sam Molnar; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veterans services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Thursday. Funeral services celebrating the life of Gary will follow with Rev. Steve Cowen officiating. A gathering will be held at the conclusion of the services at Northtown Crown Da’Bar.
